Thump Thump Thump

Yesterday I went to the doctor. Yes, I know, ANOTHER visit. I'm all set now though, no new visits, barring emergency, until November 1. The baby will be so big then! And looking like a real baby! I'm really excited for that sonogram.

Anyhow, yesterday I got to give all sorts of samples for a battery of tests. I can't even imagine how many tests they must being doing. Felt like hundreds. BUT! The fun part was I got to hear the baby's heart beating for the first time. I'd seen it on the sonogram before, fluttering away, but this time she used a machine to let me listen to it. It was amazing and crazy to see her press something to my stomach and then hear a heartbeat, definitely not mine since it was thrumming away between 145-164 bpm according to her machine. I think the baby must have been taking a little rest, s/he was way over on the left side and the heart rate was a bit lower then last time when s/he was squirming around.

Today has been a rough day. I've been feeling great all week but I woke up this morning with a raging headache and have been having a lot of nausea and (sorry if this is TMI) dry heaving. Baby must be busy today or something. Maybe s/he knows we're almost through the first trimester and s/he wants to make sure they're getting all that good growing in. It's fine, but made for a rough work day, especially since my stir fry leftovers for lunch disgusted me.

I want to give a shout out to Joe who brought me home a much desired s'mores cookie from the cookie place near SU. I try not to be crazy and be like, "Honey, go buy me some pickles!" but I had been really wanting one of those cookies. He remembered and it was sweet. He also handled another weeping episode (because I was so happy I had to cry.. makes sense, right?) with great aplomb. He's off on a boy's weekend this weekend and no one deserves the rest and fun more than he does.
