The states in which I have changed Z's diaper:
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Massachusetts
- Ohio
- Wisconsin
- Illinois
The places I have changed Z's diaper:
- The floor of a train
- The floor of a commuter rail (that was horrible)
- The front seat of the car
- The back seat of the car
- Several state parks on the grass
- Countless public restrooms* of restaurants, train stations, breweries, service stations, rest areas, stores, etc
- The YMCA locker room floor
- The floor of the Oncenter lobby area by the war memorial**
*One time when Z was only a month old I was in a bathroom where the automatic lights would turn off after about 5 minutes, plunging us into complete darkness (no windows). I couldn't turn them back on from the stall so I had to decide between leaving my naked 4 week old baby on the floor while I ran to turn the lights back on or pick him up and pray he didn't pee on my dress (we were at a wedding reception). The first time I opted for leaving him and running. The second time I scooped up his naked tush, hoped for the best and finished changing him on a small table that had some sort of decor on it. For the rest of the wedding I changed him in the middle of the reception because I was convinced that bathroom was evil.
**This one was especially great because I was at my wit's end since Z had pooped his diaper basically as soon as we got downtown to our spot to watch Joe pass by during his half marathon. It was WAY too cold to try to change him outside and I couldn't find the elevator to get us and stroller downstairs to where I knew the bathroom was so I just decided to change him in a corner of the room. Which would have been fine except he decided that he LOVED that room and wanted to go check out the sights. Did the child not flip over and start crawling away with a poop covered butt? The answer is yes, yes he did. So now I am grabbing him while trying to not get poop EVERYWHERE, which is challenging since this was a doozy of a diaper. By the end of this process both he and I had poop on our pants that I tried to remove with baby wipes. Too bad we didn't get a picture of that for the baby book.
