A big move for the Blums

Surprise! We're moving. You probably already knew but I'm just going to put together a quick fact sheet here for reference.

FAQs:

Where are you moving?

River Falls, WI, a small town in northwest Wisconsin, just across the border from St. Paul, Minnesota. 

Why on earth would you do that?

Excellent question. Because Joe was offered a job there in a hybrid role of teaching/staff at UW River Falls building up their digital film and television program. It was not an easy decision to move away from Syracuse after living here for 6 years. We are sad to leave our friends and to move further from our home base of VA and our families.  But, we feel that this is the time in our life to build a foundation for the future of our careers and, while I have done that in Syracuse, Joe has not and it's time to invest in his career and put that schooling to good use. We think this job in particular will be an excellent addition to his CV and will open doors for him in the future. 

When is this blessed/tragic event occurring?
Joe will start on June 1. He will return for Z and I mid-June.

Did you know it snows there and gets cold?

Yes, we are aware. Thank you. 

But you'll be so far away!!!!!!!

I know. It's sad but we are doing what we believe is best for our family and we think that will lead us down the right road. 

What about you, Sara, what are you going to do?

That's a good question. I'm going to be exploring some different job options. While I've enjoyed my jobs on the whole while we've been in Syracuse, I would like to try dabbling in a more creative aspect of my field and see if that goes anywhere. I will also be attempting to build a telecommuting career with the design that I might be able to stay home with Blum children part time. So, essentially, Joe and I will be trading places in the "earner" realm. (For the record, he's been a great PT stay at home dad)

What are you sad about?

Leaving good friends, food (Wegmans, The Mission, etc), the improv community, beautiful nature, moving further from family and did we mention good friends? We've really enjoyed our time in CNY.

What are you excited about?

New possibilities and adventures. New Glaurus beer, Trader Joe's and Ikea! Being within visiting distance of the Blum/Boyle extended clan.

Are you scared?
Yeah, a little.

Are you sure you want to do this?

Yep. It will be challenging, moving is the worst and starting over is very difficult, but sometimes it is for the best. It was really hard to leave our L.A. family 6 years ago, but we found a great home in Syracuse. We're choosing to hope and believe that Wisconsin can hold something special for us too. We will miss everyone very much and we so appreciate your friendships over the years. Stay in touch! You never know where we will land next!
